I did say in my journal (in anyone reads it at all) that I was going to upload fanart, but then I kinda gave up on shading it. :XD: I did upload it to my Scraps though. (It's here, if you want to see.)

Anyway, back to this. I know there are perspective problems, mainly because of that annoying hexagon-shaped Chinese pavilion... There are also texture/realism problems with the background, as usual. So.... hope you'll concentrate more on the girl instead? ;D

I've always wanted to draw a girl in a kimono but I never knew how to draw their sleeves when their arms are bent. I wasn't sure about how the folds worked. This is a great refference!

It's okay that the perspective is off, we can just pretend that there is a painting of lilypads on the wall. :)

So is this all done with a wacom? How did you get your lines so straight? They perspective of the fence-like thing that she is sitting on is great. How did you get it so perfect? Also, did you use a filter on the fence-like thing and the pillars or did you draw in the texture yourself?

Oh yeah. If you want to draw a kimono, don't follow this example. Kimono sleeves are quite different. :XD: The best way to learn how to draw the kimono sleeves correctly would be to see how a kimono is worn, step by step. (60+ steps, according to one of the websites I saw. Website isn't there any more, unfortunately.) You get to know what actually happens with the sleeves and such.

1. This isn't a kimono. :XD: It's an ancient Chinese robe. But thanks for your compliments. It took me a while to learn the correct folds too. =P

2. All done with the mouse, on Photoshop. =P There are three ways to get straight lines.
- Brush/Pencil: Click, hold Shift, click again without letting go of Shift. Works for all tools that use brushes (like Dodge, Burn, Smudge, etc.)
- Line Tool: Click and draaaaag. ;P Just click the little rectangle on the top left when the Line Tool is selected so it doesn't turn into a path.
- Pen Tool: Click anywhere without dragging. Right click, "Stroke Path." Choose the tool you want. Simulating the pressure will create a feathery line.

3. The fence/pillar texture is just scribbling at approximately the same angle with the Burn and Dodge tool. No filters required. =)

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it. Are you sure it's just not you? I think it's perfect
